Daku watched the femme in slight worry as he saw her shake. Had that fall taken more from her than it appeared or was it something more? His dark skull tilted slightly in a somewhat coltish manner as he watched her. Why couldn't he understand the actions of others? He was an equine too right? So shouldn't that make interactions with others that much easier? A quiet huff caused his nares to quiver as he blew the pestering thoughts away. Right now was not a time to be thinking of his faults and run the risk of him getting frustrated at himself and possibly hurting the femmes emotions once again. At the pondering sounds and uncertain words he grew slightly nervous. 'You know I would but that hit me like a rock.' That single sentence confused him more than the strange emotions she showed. What had hit her like a rock? Was it his previous words which had deeply hurt her? Her tumble? Or the offer he just presented.
His anxiety was raised from him as she spoke again, a slight chuckle rolling from his throat, a sound that seemed so out of place in the tense atmosphere of the current situation. "I was implying that you come and join my herd though if you change your mind when we get there I will not prevent you from leaving. He knew that his realm was not favored by many. It was dry, the sand ever shifting under hoof and unless shown the secrets of the land, almost impossible to live upon.

Again I was surprised. Since I had a chance to rest a bit pain from the fall began to sink in. My body ached and my ribs hurt. Was I hurt permanently? Daku changed his mind?! Ok so now he wants me to come live with him even though less than half an hour ago he was angered with me and didn't want me. What changed his mind? I bowed my head and finally spoke, "Lead the way Daku. I would like to join and we should leave soon as it is getting late. I am hurting a bit so we can't go fast."
I wasn't sure which way to go so I was waiting on Daku. Even more pain settled in. It seemed that my vision was being clogged now. I was getting dizzy. Gently I lay down in the grass till it passed. "Sorry Daku, just the side effects from the fall are settling in and causing me to lose my vision and making me dizzy. I was hoping that fall wasn't that bad but I guess I was wrong." I had to tell him so he wouldn't wonder why I laid down again. I took a deep breath, then another. Now Daku was a fuzzy outline that moved even though I was staring straight at him. This wasn't good. Not good at all.

Daku nodded lightly as she agreed to come with him. Secretly he was feeling rather anxious again. His insides felt like they were twisting and falling like a feather shed from a hawk high above that watched the proceedings of the two equines below before calling out proudly as it allowed a current to carry it up higher and out of view. Daku had found his attention had been drawn to that area where the hawk had previously been, the world moving painfully slowly around him before the brush of the fallen feather against his velvet muzzle bought him back to reality and to the words that Miniona spoke. She was hurting? He was beginning to worry that there was something deeper to the simple tumble the femme had taken and he was feeling reluctant to take her anywhere. If it was going to cause her pain to move her than he didn't want to force her to.
Lips parted as he was about to offer to let her rest and they could move later when she was feeling better though it seemed her body was making that decision for the both of them. As she fell he lowered his skull immediately so he could be eye to eye with her, worry glazing over his normally clear optics as he listened to the words. He nodded lightly in understanding, raising his skull and looking around them. Harks flickered, listening to the last calls of the birds before they settle for the night and the first call of the owls. Nares quivered, taking in the mild air which chilled his lungs before being forced out in a string of mist. Everything seemed tranquil and absent of any nerving scents or strange silences. He felt it was safe enough. "You should rest. I'll stand guard and make sure everything remains safe" He stated softly to her.

Though being a little worried that my body would shut down if I slept I followed his advice. " Thanks Daku for watching over me... If I had been alone I would probably die." With those words I closed my eyes and listened to the quiet world pass. My breathing was steadier now and didn't hurt so much but more of a throb. Still I needed to rest especially since I really couldn't see much. Daku really cares for the well being of other horses... He is surprisingly friendly for a stallion.
After a few minutes I couldn't help but open my eyes. Now though even when I knew my eyelids were open I couldn't see anything. This is really NOT good. Hopefully I am not blind for the rest of my life or I will really die. Though I found out that the more I stared I could see very very faintly the outlines of everything. "Daku, my vision is gone! I mean if I stare at something for a long time I can see outlines but otherwise I can't see anything!" I spoke in fear... This was really a scarey experience that I didn't know how to cope with. I didn't even now if I would be blind for the rest of my life or not. If I was going to be blind then what would I do? What will I do if I am blind for the rest of my life? Will I just not move? How will I ever know where I am going? I will really need to be in a herd then and not get lost on my own. I needed a friend or even a lover that I could trust that would not leave till I got better or knew I would be blind forever. These were not good signs though.

Daku's dark head nodded lightly at her thanks as his optics remained upon her, searching for any indication of what had happened to her. She could very well be ill though she hadn't shown any signs of it during her fall. He decided to take the easy road and assume that she was simply exhausted, possibly from the physical implications of coming here or the emotional stress on her mental being. He finally let his eyes wander from her form as her own closed and he scanned the surroundings. During the time of their troubles it seemed to pastel colours of the sky had come and gone, the mystical tones of the lowering sun having come and gone before they could experience it's beauty. Now the land was plummeting into darkness, all colour sucked from the world as though some vortex had devoured all life.
His gaze was instantly drawn back down to the mare as he heard her voice, looking slightly confused for a moment before lowering his skull and resting his muzzle upon her nape in an attempt to calm her. His nares quivered as he released a long breath, the hot air seeping between the fine hairs of her veil before his lips moved to form words. "Calm down. You're probably just exhausted or that fall knocked you around a little. You just need to rest, like I said before" His voice was soft, attempting to sooth her as his harks continued to flicker, making sure his gaurd was never down.

My optics closed again. I knew Daku wouldn't leave me or let anything hurt me. I was safe even though I was a nervous wreak. I am not exhausted or knocked around. How do I tell him? Rest? Then say I am still blind? My brain kept working overtime but his words sunk in. My ears flicked around a bit picking up every little sound. I figured it would be best to rest so with a sigh I let myself drift away.
After many hours of resting I awoke to the wind. My optics stayed closed... Listening. When I finally did decide to open my optics I still was having difficulties seeing. Why though was the big question. I replayed the fall in my head. Just walking along and then I fall. I started asking myself questions. How did I fall? Where was I hit hardest? From what I remember I fell straight forward while walking onto my knees then my head. Did I give myself brain damage? I got around to talking to Daku again. "Daku, I am STILL partially blind. SOMETHING with the fall did do it. You saw me rest. I think I might be blind for a while now if not my life. Your thoughts?"

Daku's body remained erect through the dark hours of the night, even if his pillars felt weak and stiff like the branches of an old maple tree and his muscles twitched in exhaustion like the tuffs of beach grass caught in the crisscrossing winds of the first spring storm. He stood guard over the femme whom needed his protection desperately this night, only letting his strained optics be hidden for mere seconds to rejuvenate his own slowly fading sight. The stressors of the day had taken their toll mentally upon the beast and now adding physical exhaustion to the mix couldn't be good. Daku's eyes strained into the thick veil of darkness before him as a flash of movement caught his eye. It could have simply been his exhaustion, coupled with the fleeting shadows cast by the surrounding forest creating illusions though he had the distinct feeling they were not alone. His piston moved slightly, resting upon the ground next to the femme so he could feel her body heat against his leg. It severed as a reassurance that she was not lost and made his words untrue and also to tell him that he was not alone in this new place.
His whole body tensed as a small fleck of white lurched from the trees before him though the stallion almost laughed out loud as the doe froze to look back at him, her white tail twitching nervously before she continued on her way to find grazing. His exhaustion was making him jumpier than normal. He wanted to rest so badly though he had promised to overlook this mare as she slept. Harks twitched and eyes were diverted down wards as he heard her speak. He wasn't sure how long she had been resting though if her eyesight hadn't returned then there was a great chance she had done serious damage. A soft sigh passed his lips as he looked up to the moon which was lingering directly overhead. "If you can stand I'll guide you back to my herdland. It will be easier to make decisions there"

I let my legs pick me up even though I was dizzy when I got up. I figured this was from having no eye site to make sure I was upright. If I had lost my eye sight then this would become a normal sensation. I found it interesting how much no sight could do to your other senses. My hearing and smelling had gotten twice as good so I was picking little details and smelling things I wouldn't normally notice. Slowly almost like a foal I took a nerve-wreaking step to see if I could manage. When my other legs followed I comforted myself. "I think I can manage Daku. I do find it interesting how no-sight can change you to make other senses stronger. Now I am smelling things I never noticed and I can hear the littlest rustles in the grasses and trees even though I don't feel any wind." I was also trying to keep myself upbeat and happy even though I couldn't see Daku's beautiful coat anymore.
"I do believe we should get started before any beasts come while we wait. Every second we waste here is another minute for a beast to prepare his attack." I waited for Daku's footfalls and voice to lead me back to his land. As I comforted myself I started thinking about the positives of being blind. Well sometimes these things happen but life is all about change. This will only help you get stronger and wiser. This is a good experience for you even though it might be with you for the rest of your life. It can't get any worse either. Daku won't lead you off a cliff but to his homeland and territory. You'll be safe there with him. This I hoped would keep my calm enough not to freak out again.
